Terms & Conditions for travel in 2024


1. BOOKING

CONFIRMED BOOKING Your booking of a journey is confirmed when: (1) you have made the booking, complete with all information we require and we have sent you a Booking Confirmation.

INCLUSIONS All goods and services that are included in your journey are as listed in the brochure and the website as at the date of booking.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Passengers must inform us of any special requirements, such as dietary needs, at the time of booking. We will communicate these to third parties, including hotels, meal providers, and attractions, and will make every effort to accommodate them. However, we cannot guarantee that all requirements will be fulfilled in every instance. We strongly recommend confirming with each venue to ensure your needs have been met.


2. PAYMENT

FARE The Fare for your journey is the amount stated in your Booking Confirmation. Fares are per person twin share. Single supplements are applicable for single travellers requesting single accommodation.


All fares include Australian Goods and Services Tax (GST) and are quoted in Australian Dollars ($AUD).

FULL PAYMENT must be received no later than 30 or 60 days prior to the date of travel. For bookings made within 30 or 60 days of the date of travel, the Balance will be required within 4 days, and in all cases before the date of travel.

3. TRAVEL INSURANCE


Silver City Tours strongly recommends passengers take out travel insurance to cover any unforeseen circumstances and is recommended to be taken out when deposit or full payment is made as per payment conditions above.


4. ON BOARD WITH US


NO SMOKING/VAPING POLICY Our vehicles are all entirely smoke free in accordance with relevant state and territory government regulations. Passengers are not to smoke (including e-cigarettes) while on board.


SEAT ALLOCATIONS There are no seat allocations on board Silver City Tours’ vehicles, we operate on a rotation system to ensure passengers enjoy different seating positions whilst on tour.


Luggage (4wd Tours Only): Luggage is restricted to one medium size soft travel bag, weighing no more than 15kg, plus one piece of hand luggage weighing no more than 3kg. Hard frame suitcases are not suitable and will only be carried at the driver’s discretion. We would greatly appreciate if you could consider this when packing.


HEALTH 

• Fitness These tours are at a more relaxed pace. You don’t have to worry about doing anything physically demanding unless you want to. The tour is primarily coach travel but the day tours may have content that requires disembarking vessels/vehicles with stairs and/or embankments to which you have to do unaided.


• Mobility Passengers are required to have a reasonable level of mobility to be able to board and alight the coach unaided. Due to space restrictions aboard our coaches, we are unable to accommodate passengers who require the use of wheelchairs but walkers can be stored. Our vehicles are not equipped with wheelchair ramps or lifters. Passengers requiring physical or mental assistance must be accompanied by a companion who is willing and capable of providing such assistance.


ENJOYMENT Silver City Tours will take all reasonable steps to provide an enjoyable tour. However, no liability will be accepted for any loss of enjoyment experienced by passengers due to circumstances which are out of our control.


SAFETY Passengers accept that tours include participation in Recreational Services and Recreational Activities which may involve certain risks and dangers beyond the control of Silver City Tours. Such activities containing risks include but are not limited to: bush walking and travelling in remote undeveloped locations. The passenger acknowledges that all Recreational Services and Recreational Activities in connection with the journey are undertaken of the passenger’s own free will and at the passenger’s own risk. Passengers will not be permitted to continue on tours when in the opinion of the Silver City Tours Guide/Driver, the passenger’s conduct or condition is placing their own or the safety of other passengers at risk, or is adversely affecting the enjoyment of other passengers; for whatever cause.


TRAVELLING TO REMOTE AREAS Passengers accept that some itineraries include visits to and overnight stays in remote areas located some distance from hospitals, medical centres or other forms of professional medical facilities. This is particularly the case for Silver City Tours Corner Country Tours which travel through remote country for days on end.


5. PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILMING DISCLAIMER

Please note that photographs and footage may be taken throughout our tours. These will be used by Silver City Tours for marketing and publicity in our publications, on our website and in social media or in any third party publication. Please contact Silver City Tours Tours if you have any concerns or if you wish to be exempted from this.


6. AMENDMENTS AND CANCELLATIONS

GUEST AMENDMENTS Subject to availability, you may amend your booking. If an alternate date is unavailable or unsuitable and you cannot travel on the original date your booking will be subject to our standard cancellation terms detailed below.


Amendments for bookings are permitted up to 30 days prior to departure. Amendment fees from any third parties who are supplying components of the booking (for example hotels or attractions) may apply.

  • Transferring to a new calendar year will attract the applicable tour fare for that season
  • Amendment fees from any third parties who are supplying components of the booking (for example hotels or attractions) may apply
  • Guests will be subject to any fare differences which may apply when amending travel date


GUEST CANCELLATIONS If you cancel your booking with us, you must notify us in writing or by email to sctbhq@iinet.net.au and pay a cancellation fee in the amount set out below.

7. OUR OPERATIONS

RESPONSIBILITY & LIABILITY Silver City Tours accepts no responsibility or liability for any injury, loss, damage, change of itinerary or inconvenience caused either directly or indirectly as a result of events which are outside of our control, including but not limited to: fires, floods, road closures, acts of God, unusually severe weather, riot, war, invasion, medical outbreak or contamination of any kind, material change in legislation or government directions, industrial action or commercial flight, train or bus disruptions.

Passengers are advised that the service provided by Silver City Tours is for the booking and packaging of goods and services provided by other operators such as hotels, motels, attractions, cruise lines, airlines and other transportation companies. Silver City Tours will not be liable for any loss, damage, omission or act of negligence or otherwise committed by these operators, their assignees or agents.


Silver City Tours is unable to guarantee exact arrival or departure times and is not liable for any failure to make connections with any other service or guarantee the operation of any particular service.


Itinerary Changes

Where possible within our control we will use reasonable endeavours to ensure that all tours will proceed as advertised and as booked, however the tour itinerary is a guide only and we reserve the right to alter or change the tour, itinerary, accommodation, service providers and carriers at any time for any reason at our discretion. We also reserve the right to cancel or alter tour itineraries at any time without notice due to unforeseen circumstances.


These could include (but is not limited to), road conditions, inclement weather, insufficient numbers, vehicle breakdowns or delays, supplier or carrier non-conformances, operational requirements or non-availability of venues or attractions, prior to or after commencement of the tour.


You agree that we have the right to pass on any direct costs we incur for alternative arrangements we put in place for your benefit in these circumstances at the time of occurrence. Silver City Tours is not the provider of third-party tours, accommodation, meals, attractions and travel by other means, and operates in good faith on the information provided by these third-party suppliers.


As such, Silver City Tours accepts no responsibility or liability for accuracy or information provided by third parties. We will use reasonable endeavours to ensure that all alterations, changes or substitutions to tours will be made with the best interests and intentions of all passengers. Wherever possible, we will advise passengers of these changes.


Silver City Tours Responsibility Policy In response to past incidents, we have updated our coach touring policies to enhance the safety and well-being of our passengers and staff during emergencies, while continuing to deliver the high-quality experience you expect.


Key updates include:

  • Passengers must remain seated with seatbelts fastened at all times, except when using the restroom.
  • If a passenger fails to follow the driver's instruction to remain seated, the driver may stop the coach until compliance is achieved.
  • Alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited on board.
  • Disrespectful or abusive behaviour toward other passengers or staff will not be tolerated.
  • Passengers are required to follow all instructions from the driver throughout the journey.

Getting to and from Broken Hill

Broken Hill by train, the Outback Explorer (XPT).

The Train timetable:

Mondays Departs Sydney at 6.18am and arrives Broken Hill at 7.10pm.

Tuesdays Departs Broken Hill at 7.45am and arrives Sydney at 9.38pm


Seating

  • Economy: 28 degree recline
  • First Class: Extra leg room and a 40 degree recline

Accessibility

  • 4 accessible seats for customers with a disability
  • A further 2 spaces for wheelchairs.

Toilets

  • Toilets are provided at the end of all carriages.
  • Accessible toilets with baby change facilities are located in the Buffet and saloon - first class car

Regional Express and Qantas fly to and from Broken Hill and Sydney.

Rex 13 17 13 or rex.com.au Qantas 13 13 13 qantas.com.au. They both offer a varied timetable and advance purchase airfares.
